Acid removes the cement-rich coating that forms on the surface of objects formed with AC730 to reveal the material's decorative stone pattern. Diluted with water, can also be used as a cleaning agent to remove stains from AC730.

Jesmonite AC730 is used to obtain items with a stone finish effect. The desired result can be achieved using acid or sandblasting. The product can be etched with acid only after it has hardened for at least 24 hours. Before applying the acid solution, the surface should be moistened with water, thus reducing the possibility that the acid will work more intensively in the area where it is first applied.

For acid etching, the workplace must be well-ventilated and close to a clean water source. Different degrees of etching can be achieved by curing from 1 minute to about 4 minutes. The acid works by dissolving the top coat, thus exposing the decorative filament and pigments in the material. The acid should be washed off with plenty of clean water and the surface dried with a clean, dry cloth. When the surface is dry, the etching process can be repeated in separate areas, if desired.
